(Emeritus Pastor Elder Madison Bowen): God blessed him with 91 years, Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace - (Psalms 37:37), describes my Uncle Mac, he was a Righteous, a Godly, Peaceful, Good, Man, our uncle, a mighty Anointed, Awesome, Powerful man of God, Awesome and Wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin, Pastor, Elder, Teacher, and Leader; who always exhibited the Fruit of the Spirit, in his life every day, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5: 22-23); A righteous faithful, unblemished man who walked in a communicable relationship with God; who emphatically trusts God’s Word. He perseveres in the obedience of God’s commands against all odds and hardships. Yes, he was a righteous, A General, a Good, Godly faithful man, who dedicated his life to serving God and his family. He truly loved God, what an awesome man of God, he was an example to us all and all of our family. What an awesome legacy.
We loved him, We love to hear him preach, pray and sing, when he preached and rejoiced it was electrified and powerful, the power of God would fall; he was one of the Matriarchs of our family.
Three of my fondest memories, I have so many, but these three stuck with me down through the years:
(1) Holy Convocation Baptisms - I remember when I was young when we would attend our yearly convocation, one of the exciting parts was after they finish Baptismal service, how the power of God would just fall, my Uncle Mac would get so excited praising God, that he would jump in the baptism pool. (Romans 1:16)
(2) I remember before he preached, he would tell how he was praising God, and how the power of God would fall, while he was driving to church, he said he would think about how good God was he had to pull over and rejoice.
(3) When my cousin Rosie and I would call each other, one of the highlights of my call was talking to my Uncle, we would sing, pray and talk about the goodness of God, it was so anointed and powerful, amazing, and uplifting, we had church.
When he was in the hospital, we would sing, he was so alert, and he just praised God, it was so awesome.
He truly walked with God every day, he loved God more than anything, he always loved to praise the Lord. I can still hear him singing, Everybody ought to know who Jesus Is, I've Been Saved All Day, God Cares, I keep so busy praising my Jesus, Real, Real, Jesus is Real to me; Do Lord, Do Lord (to name a few).
Uncle Mac, you were a mighty true soldier, a General for God, your steps were truly ordered by the Lord and God delighteth in your ways. (Psalms 37:23)
Uncle Mac, We love you, you will truly be missed
Love you Always,
